A cohort of forty students of Law embarked on an educational expedition to the Maharashtra Judicial Academy in Thane, Maharashtra. Accompanied by esteemed faculty members, including Associate Professor Nikhil Rote and Professor Abhilasha Mane, this visit aimed to provide students with firsthand insights into the intricacies of judicial proceedings. Prior to the visit, meticulous efforts were made to obtain all necessary permissions from the academy authorities, ensuring a seamless and informative experience for the students. Additionally, a comprehensive orientation familiarized the students with the expected etiquette and decorum within the academy’s premises.
During their visit, the students had the privilege of witnessing the induction training provided to newly selected judicial officers before assuming their roles as presiding officers in the court. This exposure granted them a unique perspective on the preparatory phase of judicial service. Moreover, the students delved into the research projects undertaken by judges, shedding light on initiatives aimed at enhancing court performance, judicial competence, and overall litigant satisfaction with the legal system.
This immersive experience undoubtedly deepened the students’ practical understanding of the judicial system, offering a nuanced view of the challenges and responsibilities associated with legal practice. The visit to the Maharashtra Judicial Academy not only enriched their knowledge of the legal field but also underscored the School of Law’s commitment to providing holistic and experiential legal education.
